Total Underground Solutions played a key role on the development of the new hospital, located west of Melbourne.
We utilised our Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) trench less digging technology to lay conduit with minimal traditional excavation required. This method allows for us to precisely navigate below obstacles such as railways, making it ideal for projects like Footscray Hospital.
HDD is faster, more flexible, and less disruptive than traditional drilling methods, offering significant cost and environmental benefits.
Here are some key facts about the project:
- 4 km of underground conduit was laid from Footscray substation to new Footscray Hospital.
- Horizontal Directional Drill completed underneath 6 Railway tracks
- Horizontal Directional Drill completed underneath Princes Highway
- Horizontal Directional Drill completed underneath Stony Creek and Cruikshank Park to bring connection into Footscray West Zone Substation
